Canadian Music Competitions of British Columbia Society (CMC-BC)

The Canadian Music Competitions of British Columbia Society (CMC-BC) is dedicated to fostering excellence in classical music education and performance among young musicians throughout British Columbia.

As part of the national Canadian Music Competitions network, CMC-BC provides aspiring musicians with opportunities to perform, receive professional adjudication, and develop their artistic potential in a supportive and inspiring environment. Through provincial auditions, educational initiatives, and performance opportunities, we encourage young artists to pursue musical excellence while building confidence, discipline, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

A Legacy of Excellence

The Canadian Music Competitions (CMC) is one of Canada’s most respected and longest-standing classical music competition organizations. For generations, it has provided a platform for young musicians to showcase their talents and advance their artistic development.

Many distinguished Canadian artists have participated in CMC throughout their musical journeys, including internationally acclaimed musicians such as Angela Hewitt, James Ehnes, and Jon Kimura Parker. Their achievements reflect the important role that CMC has played in nurturing artistic excellence across Canada.

What We Do

Each year, CMC-BC organizes provincial auditions and special events that bring together talented young musicians from across British Columbia. Participants receive valuable feedback from distinguished adjudicators and have opportunities to be recognized through awards, scholarships, and invitations to represent British Columbia at the national level.

In addition to competitions, CMC-BC presents gala concerts and showcase performances that celebrate the accomplishments of young artists and inspire the broader community.
