Please note that receiving a First Prize does not automatically guarantee an invitation to the National Final.

British Columbia has been allocated only 40 finalist spots for the 2025 CMC-BC National Final. Due to the limited number of spaces, the selection committee evaluates First Prize & Second Prize winners across multiple factors to ensure a fair and representative selection process.

Selections are made based on:

  • Proportional allocation across different age groups and disciplines, in accordance with the total number of participants in each category;
  • Variety and balance of instrumental categories (e.g., piano, strings, voice, winds, chamber music, etc.);
  • Level of distinction demonstrated in performances, as assessed by adjudicators’ feedback and scores.

Priority will be given to First Prize winners when selecting finalists, who will be chosen from the following broader age divisions:

  • Age 7-10
  • Age 11-14
  • Age 15-18
  • Age 19-25
