Olivia Yi is a Grade 5 student at York House School who is passionate about piano, visual arts, and community service. She is a multiple international piano competition winner, including First Prize at the Crescendos International Piano Competition, Steinway Gold Medal, IPPA Conero International Competition, Sea to Sky International Music Festival, Vivace International Piano Competition, Versailles Music Festival (Highest Score), and GOCAA International Competition. Olivia actively supports charitable causes through performances for BC Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Vancouver General Hospital Foundation, St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation, and the Liver Cancer Foundation. She has also appeared at New York and Vancouver Children’s Fashion Weeks. A gold medalist in both the Utopia and World Peace Painting Competitions, Olivia serves as founder and President of the Harmony Through Arts Youth Foundation. Her solo recitals at ages six, seven, and eight raised over $30,000 for charitable causes.
Xiyun (Kate) Huang is a Grade 9 student at West Vancouver Secondary School and an enthusiastic young pianist. She has earned top awards at numerous music competitions, including the Crescendo International Competition, Sea to Sky International Piano Festival, and Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival. Her musical achievements have led to performances at Carnegie Hall in New York, the UBC Chan Centre in Vancouver, and several appearances with the Lions Gate Sinfonia and Orchestra. Beyond music, Kate serves as a Student Council representative, founded her school’s Debate Club, and volunteers with the ICC Firefly Youth Project, supporting children with disabilities through fundraising and community outreach. As a recipient of the 2026 CMC-BC Ambassador Award, Kate is passionate about sharing the joy of music and encouraging young musicians to pursue their goals. She believes that music inspires creativity, confidence, and meaningful connections within the community.
Bonnie Wong is a Grade 10 student at Crofton House School with a passion for music, science, and lifelong learning. She has been playing the harp since the age of four and has also explored a variety of instruments, including the piano, flute, and oboe. Through music, Bonnie enjoys developing creativity, discipline, and self-expression while sharing her love of performance with others. Beyond music, she is particularly interested in biology, chemistry, and neuroscience! She is an active student who embraces opportunities to challenge herself through academic, artistic, and extracurricular pursuits. In her free time, she enjoys reading, creating art, and playing sports such as field hockey and tennis. Bonnie is grateful for the opportunity to perform at the CMC Competition Gala and looks forward to continuing her musical journey while pursuing her academic interests.
Charles Lim is a Canadian cellist and Grade 10 student at Collingwood School, recognized for his expressive performances and musical maturity. In 2025, Charles represented BC at the Canadian Music Competition National Finals after receiving First Prize, and also represented BC at the Banff International String Quartet Competition as a Youth Ambassador. His recent achievements include the Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival Medallion, VAYA International Music Festival Gold Medal, and First Prize at the Melodies in Motion Competition. In 2026, he was named First Prize Winner at the New York Artists International Competition, Concerto Category, where he received the New York Assemblyman Ron Kim Award and a concerto performance invitation with the New York Classical Symphony Orchestra. He was also named First Prize Winner at the Crescendo International Music Competition, earning an invitation to perform at the Winners Recital at the Chan Centre.
Elliana Sun is known for her performance spirit and sensitive musical charisma. Admired by many teachers and professors alike, she captivates audiences through her expressive phrasing, her ability to convey a rich palette of tone colors, and the lyrical nature of her interpretations. Since starting piano at age six, she has achieved recognition provincially, nationally and internationally; placing highest at the BC Provincial Festival, and where after advancing to the National Canada West Festival, she earned a silver medal overall. She also won the Gold Award in the Steinway & Sons Piano Competition, and was a finalist in the Canadian Music Competition. She has performed solo in Chan Centre and Christ Church Cathedral, as well as performed concerti with the Virtuosi Brunensis Orchestra in Perugia. She is the Co-President of one of the largest student-led music associations in BC, raising over $31,000 with hundreds of volunteers and over 20+ clubs across the Lower Mainland.
